SPECIAL EVENTS DURING FINNFEST2008

Finnfest2008 has more than 300 events scheduled, but some of them are “one of a kind”. You might miss these if you just look at the major categories like Music, Art, or Lectures, etc. For example:

Blue and White – Many gardeners in town started work this spring to make sure there would be blue and white flowers in bloom during our celebration of Finnish heritage.

Ceremonies – From the dramatic music and glitter of our opening ceremonies, made more unique by our local Finnish – Anishinaabe traditions, to a visit from the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, who will be presented with an honorary “Doctor of Laws” degree from University of Minnesota Duluth, Finnfest2008 will be memorable.

Day of Theology – A Day of Theology for lay persons and clergy featuring presentations by eminent theologians and scholars.

Fashion Show – You’re invited to attend the Finnfest2008 fashion show, promising to be one of the highlights of our celebration. The event will be a perfect opportunity to sit back and relax while enjoying  a tasty Scandinavian/European style luncheon.

Fiddlers – this is an invitation to lend your own musical talents to our opening ceremony, and for non-fiddlers a hint that you will not want to miss this event.
